Today, we celebrate the feast of Santo Domingo de Guzman.
The Santo Domingo Church is just a stone's throw away from my house. Before going to the office, I decided to drop by to take photo of the centuries-old image of Sto. Domingo (St. Dominic). The image is usually enthroned at the middle of main altar of the church. The stand is quite high and security is tight. But they do allow people to approach and take photos given that there is no on-going mass.
This image of Santo Domingo de Guzman is one of the survivors of the World War II bombing in Intramuros. There were 8 ivory images of saints spared from the bombing and the image of Nuestra Señora del Santissimo Rosario La Naval de Manila. All these images could be seen during the Grand La Naval Fiesta held every 2nd Sunday of October.
Just a trivia, I was named after this saint.
