I have been to Argao a couple of times of already, but this is the first time I attended their fiesta. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to join the procession due to the heavy rains.
My primary purpose going to Cebu was to meet a supplier. But my Cebuano friends tagged me along with them. Many thanks to them, the Argao Fiesta was simply an amazing experience. The procession was just around the vicinity surrounding the church. In less than an hour, the image is back to the church. The old smell of the church and the beautiful fresco really added to the "sinauna" feel and I really like it so much!
There are two San Miguel images being processioned in Argao. Both are approximately 7 ft. tall. The antique one is made of wood, while the other is fiberglass. As a tradition, the centuries old, wooden image is the one being processioned. But its current state is not good anymore - the based of the image is being infested by termites. However, the old image is not stored from devotees. They still venerate it during special celebrations. The San Miguel image has a very gentle expression - signifies that the devil has no match to his powers.
