After the recent ivory ban controversy in the Philippines, I noticed the sudden decreased in no. of ivory images in the Grand Marian Procession (GMP) in Intramuros. I am not really fond of ivory images nor do I want to have one. This post on the other hand, will be dedicated to all slaughtered elephants and to the beauty carved from their priced tusks. I sincerely hope that there will be a shift concerning the material of choice for religious images.
During the GMP, I went around to take photographs of some of the ivory images who’ll be joining the procession. Some, I am not really sure if it’s carved from ivory or merely the finishing touch.
