I really don't know if this is the first time it happened that the centuries old image of Nuestra Señora del Carmen de San Sebastian will have enthronement rites. Here's a brief history of the image. The ivory image of Virgen del Carmen was a gift from the Discalced Carmelite Nuns from Mexico City to an Augustinian Recollect Friar, Fray Rodrigo de San Miguel in 1618. The original head and hands of the Virgen including the Niño was stolen in 1975. Fortunately, the Virgen's hands and the Niño was recovered, but the head was nowhere to be found.
